DIGITOME SINGLE SOURCE GEOMETRY
This is a conceptual representation of a Digitome® X-Ray Laboratory. Its purpose is to demonstrate the relationship between the X-Ray Source and the Digitome® Fixtures. Specifically, the plane of the Digitome® Turntable Fixture is horizontal. The Image Plate is supported at an angle with respect to the horizontal, some distance from the turntable. The X-Ray Optical Axis passes through the center of the Turntable on the Fixture to the approximate center of the Image Plate and is angled midway between horizontal and vertical. The exact details of your situation may differ substantially but that relationship must be maintained. For example, the Turntable Fixture could be tilted mid way between vertical and horizontal while the X-Ray Optical Axis could be vertical or horizontal and the Image Plate correspondingly perpendicular.
- Point C is the center of rotation of the turntable to within the expected image resolution
- The distance A-C must be known to within 1%
- The angle between the line A-C and the turntable
- Elevation to within 0.05 degrees
- Azimuth to within 0.05 degrees
- Elevation to within 0.05 degrees
- The line A-B must be perpendicular to the plane of the detector to within 0.05 degrees
- The image pixel position of point C must be known to within the expected image resolution +
The geometry specification can be met by construction, measurement, calibration or some combination of the three methods.
